Last spring, Music on Norway Pond’s young singers, called Jr. Mints, started a new tradition with a program of songs all by one beloved musical artist: Pete Seeger. This spring the featured group is none other than the Beatles.
And just like last year, the kids will be collaborating with Artistic Director Jody Hill Simpson and Ethan McBrien, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and member of the band Party of the Sun, along with new faculty member Megan Henderson, past artistic director of the Revels in Cambridge. What could be more fun than “Yellow Submarine”, more poignant than “Let It Be”, or more rollicking than “Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da”?
The Jr. Mints range in age from 6 – 15 and come from Hancock and surrounding towns. They are learning both how to perform and lead favorite Beatles tunes, and hope to have a big crowd of people singing with them on the Hancock Common on Sunday afternoon, June 16 for an old-fashioned songfest called “The Fab Four in Hancock!” There is no charge; freewill donations will be gratefully accepted.
